Privacy policy

Effective October 7, 2026. Wording revised October 12, 2026 to add a contact email and more detail; what the app does with your data has not changed.

CalcOwlator is a list calculator for iPhone, made by Raiyan Asaral, an independent developer in Zamboanga City, Philippines. Your lists are yours. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to them.

The short version

  • CalcOwlator collects no data. There’s no account to sign up for.
  • Your lists, accounts and settings are stored on your iPhone.
  • If you turn on iCloud sync, they’re also kept in your own private iCloud, which only you can read.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no selling or sharing of data.

What the app stores, and where

Lists, rows, amounts and notes, accounts (the names, colours and balances you enter), groups and settings are saved on your device, inside the app’s own storage. They never leave your device unless you turn on iCloud sync or export them yourself.

Like most apps’ data, they are included in your iPhone’s iCloud Backup or computer backup if you have that turned on. That backup is yours, under your Apple Account.

Deleted lists. When you delete a list, the app keeps its last copy in its private storage on that iPhone as a safety net. It isn’t synced or shown anywhere. Deleting the app removes it. See how to delete your data.

Card photos. If you add a photo to an account, it’s saved on that device only. It isn’t synced or uploaded. The app asks you to cover the card number before taking one, and it never asks for or stores full card numbers. The optional “last 4 digits” field is kept with the account.

Things the app learns. Names and prices you give barcodes, and the sections the app learns for scanned items, stay on your device.

Exports and backups. If you share a list as text, a PDF, a picture or a spreadsheet, or export a backup file, it goes wherever you choose to save or send it. A picture of a list is saved to Photos only when you choose Save Image.

iCloud sync (optional, CalcOwlator Pro)

When you turn on iCloud sync, your lists, groups and accounts are stored in the private database of your iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. Apple stores this data. I, the developer, cannot see or access it. iCloud may send the app a silent notification when something changes on another of your devices; it carries no list content.

You can turn sync off in the app’s Settings, and remove the synced data from iCloud. The steps are on the delete your data page.

Purchases

CalcOwlator Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple handles payment. I receive no payment details. The app checks on your device whether your Apple Account has Pro.

Face ID and passcode

If you turn on the lock, iOS checks your face, fingerprint or passcode. The app only learns whether the check succeeded. It never sees or stores biometric data.

Notifications

Bill and card reminders are created on your device from your own lists and due dates. They’re not sent through any server.

Camera, photos and scanning

When you scan a receipt, bill, barcode or QR code, or pick a photo to read, the text and codes are read on your iPhone by Apple’s built-in, on-device text and code recognition. Those images aren’t saved by the app and are never uploaded.

Widgets

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show a summary the app saves on your device for them. With the lock turned on, widgets show no amounts.

What CalcOwlator doesn’t do

  • No analytics or crash-reporting services are built into the app.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No connection to your bank. Account names, colours and balances are only what you type in.
  • No other connections: the app goes online only for iCloud sync, if you turn it on, and for App Store purchases.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of anything.

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash data to me. That is controlled by iOS, not by the app.

Children

CalcOwlator doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If the app ever starts collecting data, it will say so here and in the app before it does.
